Miss World Canada Pageant Comes to Toronto

Fifty-five Delegates from Across Canada will Compete for the Crown on July 22nd

Toronto, Ontario (July 10, 2017) – Canada’s longest standing beauty pageant, the search for Miss World Canada 2017 will be hosted in Toronto this summer on July 22nd at the John W. H. Bassett Theatre. Fifty-five contestants from across Canada will participate in an exciting week of preparation and city-wide activities starting on July 16th.

Torontonians are invited to join in the anticipation by attending the preliminary event on July 20th held at the recently restored, iconic The Great Hall and a fashion show at Cabana Pool Bar on July 21st, where the contestants will showcase the SS17 line from Canadian designer Rachel Sin.

Executive Director and Former Miss World Canada 1996, Michelle Weswaldi of MTC-W Inc. (production company for Miss Teenage Canada and Top Model Search Canada) will be leading 2017’s Miss World Canada pageant with a strong focus on “Beauty with a Purpose” as the contestants work to raise money for official charity partner, The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.

“We are looking forward to enhancing the pageant with a charitable focus, new up-to-date criteria for contestants and an overall elevated week-long experience in the world-class city of Toronto” states Weswaldi, who obtained the rights to the pageant in 2017.

The pageant will be judged by familiar Toronto faces including reality television star Joan Kelley Walker of the Real Housewives of Toronto franchise; Media Personality Ward Anderson of Sirius XM Canada’s “The Ward and Al Show” and “Offstage with Ward Anderson”; On-Air Beauty Expert Bahar Niramwalla (Cityline and the Global Morning Show) and Fashion and Lifestyle Writer Bianca Teixeira.

In addition to the preliminary event at The Great Hall, the fashion show at Cabana Pool Bar and the pageant on July 22nd, Torontonians will be able to catch the contestants as they tour and enjoy the great city with pageant partners Ripley’s Aquarium, Mariposa Cruises, DW Alexander Lounge, Nando’s, Pizza e Pazzi, Rebel night club and more.

The crowned winner of Miss World Canada will take the international stage in China to compete for the title of Miss World and will enjoy prizes from participating partners, including Skechers ,Canadian designer Helene Clarkson, Blo Dry Bar, jewellery designer Rebekah Price, Canadian Beauty Subscription Service Babe Box, KRA Shea Butter, Tangle Teezer, Canadian designer Helene Clarkson, and Canadian handbag designer Jeanne Lottie.

Additional pageant partners include Edward Hotel, Mayfair Clubs, Velago Patio Furniture, Spectacle, and Hashtagio.
