Charming Media’s TIFF 2013 Survival Kit
August 23, 2013
August is a wonderful but hectic month. Not only are you dealing with the inevitable emotional side-effects of the end of summer, you are also trying to gear yourself up for one of the city’s biggest events of the year: the Toronto International Film Festival. At this time each year, celebrities and brilliantly-creative, film-making minds swarm our fair metropolitan, making us feel like the chances of running into someone very famous, beautiful and talented are suddenly heightened. You need to watch the movies, meet the media, make sure you’re in the middle of the chaos to say that you’ve made the most of this annual event.
This being said, there are certain things you will require in order to make it through TIFF looking and feeling your best. We call this the Charming Media TIFF Survival Kit:
1. The “London” by Nella Bella: You’re going to need a place for your camera, phone, blazer and general fabulousness. Its versatility can also take you seamlessly from day to night with the detachable clutch.
2. The Strum App: See what your TIFF friends are saying about the hottest (and not-so-hot) restaurants around town so you can make sure you hit all the good ones and perhaps see a celebrity or two!
3. The “Laurel” by Flurries: You’re going to be running around a lot and if you let it, a long day of wearing 4.5-inch heels will be the only thing you remember about the festival. Opt for a charming wedge like this because it’s cute and this may be your last chance to wear an espadrille before summer’s out!
4. An outfit to take you from media to TIFF-party-mania: When you’re insanely busy, your outfit has to keep up. These sleek Mavi Alexa Black Cobra Jeans and ruffle shirt from Jean Machine will do just that. Pair with your favourite statement necklace and stash a pair of light strappy heels in your London tote. Voilà, press-to-party perfection!
5. A little R&R: Once TIFF is over, you will find yourself needing to relax a bit. The festival will come and go and you will ask yourself, “How can such a wonderful time be so exhausting?” Well, for that we suggest a weekend at Viamede Resort because after riling yourself up with all that excitement, you have to unwind and prepare for reality again.
Are you film-festival-ready? Happy TIFF, everyone!
