THE COLLECTIONS™ Brings 21 Designers, 16 Brands and 14 Filmmakers to World MasterCard® Fashion Week

Toronto, ON (October 8th) –THE COLLECTIONS™ launched their 10th season at a media preview on the 6th of October with an official announcement of 21 designers and 16 brands on the roster. This includes 5 contemporary ready-to-wear labels, 1 international label and 10 curated Canadian accessory designers in the first showcase of its kind to appear on the official World MasterCard® Fashion Week calendar.

The TCSS16 roster includes founding designers SID NEIGUM and MATTHEW GALLAGHER, returning designers HELDER DIEGO, MALORIE URBANOVITCH and 3.PARADIS and new to Toronto’s World MasterCard® Fashion Week, international designer HONG KIYOUNG (as featured in publications such as Vogue UK, Glamour UK, and ELLE Italy).

In partnership with the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC), THE COLLECTIONS™ will present the inaugural, accessory showcase called, ACCESS, featuring 10 contemporary Canadian designers Alan Anderson, Beaufille, Cuchara, Christian Daniel Tang, Dean Davidson, Dolorous, Juma, Opelle, T&K, and The Leather Atelier. The SS16 ACCESS showcase is in collaboration with Toronto-based artist Brooke King, former accessory and textile designer with Viktor and Rolf, Rob Dittmer, owner of Three Event Design.

At the media launch, THE COLLECTIONS™ showcased one look from their TCSS16 roster and presented an installation featuring 10 designers participating in ACCESS on Tuesday October 20th at 3pm in the studio.

THE COLLECTIONS™ also announced the 14 fashion filmmakers who will be showcased in the DIScONNECT Fashion Film Festival, as well as released the official DFFF teaser. As the opening event on the SS16 World MasterCard® Fashion Week calendar, the DIScONNECT Fashion Film Festival will showcase work from a series of international filmmakers exploring the theme of POP!enomics™, A New Valuation of Self through fashion film.

After 7 successful seasons of DIScONNECT, THE COLLECTIONS™ have partnered with Fashion Magazine to present one filmmaker with an award of “Best DIScONNECT Fashion Film”. The announcement will be made by Randi Bergman 
at Fashion Magazine’s Toronto Fashion Week Awards on October 23rd, 2015. THE COLLECTIONS™ will celebrate the festival’s 8th season on October 19th at an invitation-only event at the newly opened Toronto restaurant FIGO.
