Cocoon Apothecary Launches Carotene Glow Antioxidant Booster

CO2 Extraction Process Leverages Benefits of Highly Concentrated Carotene,

Sea Buckthorn, Rosehip, Pomegranate and Frankincense

TORONTO, ON – February 28 2019 – Connecting people with plants through skincare since 2003, Cocoon Apothecary introduces the newest edition to its organic, botanical skincare line; the Carotene Glow Antioxidant Booster.

Creating a customizable at-home skin experience, the Carotene Glow Antioxidant Booster transforms skin care enthusiasts into alchemists, enabling them to boost their serums and moisturizers, thereby enhancing their bioactive properties. Cocoon Apothecary’s new Booster leverages a method of extracting plant chemicals by using pressurized C02 as a solvent.

Why CO2? This supercritical extraction process is one of the most efficient methods to create highly effective plant-based booster substances, as it embodies the entire plant as opposed to the essential oils or triglycerides (cold-pressed oils).

Why Carotene? In plants, the orange-coloured pigments of carotene turn light into chlorophyll, absorbing and scattering UV light. In human skin, carotene pigments protect cells from UV damage and convert to retinol, an active vitamin A that keeps skin smooth and firm. In higher concentrations, the orange pigment provides a warm, healthy glow to skin tone.

“Creating a customizable skin care experience has always been a part of our mission. We love the idea that people can perform plant-based alchemy at home and leverage the benefits of superfoods to really nourish skin on an entire new level.  The Carotene Glow Antioxidant Booster comes in our signature eco-friendly glass vials with a small dropper to allow for that customizable experience,” states Jessica Burman, Cocoon Apothecary Founder

In addition to carotene, the Carotene Glow Antioxidant Booster consists of the organic sea buckthorn, organic rosehip and organic pomegranate seed to repair skin’s barrier, replenish hydration, and protect skin cells. Wild-grown frankincense derived from the resin of the Boswellia tree offers soothing and rejuvenating properties with main constituents being the antioxidant terpenes alpha-pinene, incensol, and caryophyllene.

ABOUT COCOON APOTHECARY

Cocoon Apothecary is an eco-friendly artisanal skin care company located in Kitchener, Ontario. In 2003 founder Jessica Burman began  hand-making small-batch skin care products targeting the signs of aging with natural ingredients sourced ethically worldwide. Jessica started the line after a search for quality, natural skin care products came up short. Armed with an expanding knowledge of aromatherapy, botanical chemistry, and the dangers of petrochemicals, Jessica created the now best-selling facial cream Rosey Cheeks, and Cocoon Apothecary was born. Now, together with husband Lane Burman, Cocoon Apothecary continues to expand both its line of customized skin care products as well as its foot print, carried in more than 100 stores and online shops across North America, and in the Cocoon Apothecary Kitchener boutique, as well as cocoonapothecary.ca
