Getting through #HeatwaveTO

Well, Toronto, we asked for heat after weeks of rain and BOY, did you deliver. If you haven’t been in Toronto then congratulations, you’ve narrowly escaped the blazing city-heat that we’ve been experiencing for the last few days. It’s name on social media? “HeatwaveTO”. Our sweat-inducing weather has been given a proper name. That’s how hot it is.

With that, we thought we’d share our tips for getting through #HeatwaveTO!

1. Make sure you’re wearing comfortable shoes. There is nothing worse than swelling feet in already-uncomfortable shoes. Opt for a comfy pair of Flurries sandals to commute in.

2. Wear something light but cover up. When it’s hot we want to be in a bathing suit, but really our skin is so vulnerable to those powerful UV rays. A maxi dress is an easy way to stay somewhat cool but still protect skin. This gorgeous number is from Jean Machine and the colours are perfect for a pretty look!

3. There’s nothing wrong with eating ice cream when there’s a heat alert and it’s Ice Cream Week at Bite Me More. You’re doing it for the sake of your body temperature and well-being; all is forgiven. This Oreo-cookie ice cream sandwich recipe will do the cool-down trick (any day of the year).

4. Black isn’t going to help our cause when trying to stay cool. Tote all your essentials around in a coloured or neutral bag. We like to strut down the street in the red Filix handbag by Nella Bella. It’s a pop of colour and big enough to fit our laptops in.

7. Water. That is all.
